Getting here

If flying from outside of the Caribbean we recommend flying to Grantley Adams International Airport BARBADOS (BGI).

International arrivals into Barbados are in the early afternoon, which (assuming no outbound delays) allows convenient onward connection to Bequia. The following local airlines fly direct to Bequia from Barbados:

Flights from Barbados direct to Bequia

SVG Air offers scheduled daily flights from Barbados to Bequia, which are designed to connect with incoming international flights. Flying time is approximately 55 minutes, reaching Bequia in the late afternoon. SVG Air also offers charter flights from Barbados to Bequia. Contact res@svgair.com for both reservations and enquiries.

Mustique Airways offers both charter and regular flights from Barbados to Bequia. Contact info@mustique.com for both reservations and enquiries.

For alternatives to direct flights see base of page.

Stopping enroute

If you would like to stay in Barbados on route we recommend The Crane or The Yellow Bird Hotel.

Getting to TradeWinds

You will arrive at J F Mitchell Airport, Bequia. Once you have provided us with your flight details TradeWinds Cruise Club will arrange for guests to be collected by taxi from the airport and brought to the marina. This is at the guests own expense and costs approximately US$17.00. The airport is tiny and there is only one exit so the taxi will find you easily.

You will be expected to present a completed Immigration form provided by your incoming airline. Visitors must also be able to show a return ticket out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

If you experience delays and you feel that you cannot get to the base in time then please call 784-457-3407 leaving your name(s) and a short description of the problem along with contact details for where you are.

Leaving Bequia

You are required to pay a national departure tax of EC$40 (about US$16) for each passenger leaving St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Please note that it is illegal to take anything at all from the Tobago Cays other than pictures. This includes corals, sea-shells and stones.

We do not recommend that you purchase anything made from animal products (Turtle, Whalebone, Shark tooth etc), as these will most likely be seized by Customs in your home country.

Alternative routes

We do not recommend taking an alternative route, but should you these few trips will assist you.

Flying via St.Vincent

You can fly from Barbados to St.Vincent. After arriving at the airport in St. Vincent guests should take a taxi (approximately US$12) to the ferry dock in Kingstown to catch the ferry to Bequia - either the Admiral (green) or the Bequia Express I or II (red and white). TradeWinds Cruise Club will organise a taxi for you at your expense. Journey from the airport takes approximately 15 minutes.

Once at the ferry dock, guests must pass through the Grenadines Wharf terminal booth, where they will be asked to pay EC$1 in wharf "user fee". Pay for your ferry ticket on board. Fares are approximately US$8 one way. US dollars will be accepted by both taxis and ferries at about 2.60 to the EC$.
